Benefits of Coconut Oil Pulling



Coconut oil pulling is an Ayurvedic therapy used dating back to 3000 B.C. by ancient Egyptians. According to Ayurvedic medicine various sections of the tongue corresponds to major organs of the body It has many benefits with the top being whiter, healthier teeth and gums. There have been multiple studies done to back the effectiveness of oil pulling. Other oils such as sesame or sunflower oil can be used as a means of oil pulling, however coconut oil is my preferred choice because it is least expensive and more readily available. Coconut oil is colorless, flavorless and can be found at your local grocery store in the cooking oil isle.

What type of oil should you get?

Unrefined Virgin coconut oil is the best to use when oil pulling. Unrefined coconut oil is untreated and unaltered versus refined.

How do you oil pull?

Oil pulling is done on an empty stomach and prior to brushing your teeth.

1. Take one teaspoon of coconut oil the first thing in the

morning swish around in your mouth without stopping in a

chewing motion for 15-20 minutes.

2. Spit the oil out and immediately rinse the mouth with

warm water.

3. Continue with your normal brushing regime.

4. Repeat daily for best results
