7 Remedies for Thinning Hair

Hair loss can be devastating, especially if it occurs at young age. No matter what age or gender these remedies may work for you.

1. Rule out any medications that may be causing the hair loss.

Consult with your doctor to determine if any medications that you are taking have an adverse effect on your hair growth.

2. Determine if genetics play a factor in your thinning hair.

Unfortunately we have no control over genetics and it may be difficult to diagnose. Most likely if either of your parents hair began to thin at a young age then yours may possibly do the same.

3.Maintain a clean healthy scalp.

Shampooing and conditioning your hair and scalp is a must. Clogged pores on the scalp can inhibit hair growth.

4. Stimulate the scalp.

Slightly warmed oils such as castor, tea tree, coconut, or argan massaged onto the scalp daily, can stimulate the hair follicles and growth.Gently massage the scalp in a circular motion, paying special attention to the thinning areas nightly.

5.Stay hydrated.

More than 60 percent of our bodies are made up of water. Though sweat and other excretions we loose water each day. Hence the importance of drinking water daily to remain hydrated. Lack of water can cause dryness of the scalp and hair follicles causing them to break, thin, or fall off completely. Ensure you are drinking a full 8-10 glasses of water daily.

6. Maintain a proper diet.

Every unhealthy food we put in our bodies has to exit in some way. It may be through the skin, scalp or normal bowel movements. The entire digestion process is to break down the food we eat and extract the nutrients by absorption into our vital organs. Even if there is no nutritious value in the food some portion still gets absorbed. Eat plenty of greens daily such as kale, green beans or spinach leaves. Take supplements if recommended by a physician.

7. Reduce tension.

Allow your scalp to breathe, tight fitting hats or scarves for a prolonged period of time will suffocate the scalp and may even speed up the hair thinning process.

Always consult with a physician before adding to your daily regime and a hair care specialist to determine your specific hair care needs.

Be well! Stay tuned for the next post
